Help change lives by joining the Mid-Cumberland Meals-on-Wheels Volunteer Team!

Top 10 Reasons We Love Our Volunteers

  1. Volunteers have “hearts of gold” and truly make a difference.

  2. Volunteers foster a sense of family for a lonely senior.

  3. Volunteers drive nearly 380,000 miles annually delivering meals.

  4. The seniors look forward to seeing the smiling face of the volunteers because often the volunteer is the only person the senior could see that day.

  5. If the program had to pay delivery drivers instead of using volunteers, the program would serve 20–25% fewer meals. Volunteers are critical to the program!

  6. Many volunteers will bring their children to deliver so they are teaching their children the importance of “giving back” to the vulnerable members of their community.

  7. Volunteers will also deliver donated cat and dog food to seniors’ pets because pets are often a seniors’ only family, and the senior can't afford pet food.

  8. Volunteers deliver the only meal a senior may have in a day.

  9. Volunteers are reliable and always ready to deliver.

  10. Volunteers save lives! Volunteers have been able to call 911 for seniors who have collapsed in their homes.

Hot meals are planned by a registered dietician and prepared in a commercial kitchen Monday–Friday and delivered to meal sites.

Volunteers deliver the meals and take great care to place food in proper storage. Each meal site must pass the Health Department’s rigorous cleanliness and safety inspections. Sixty is the minimum age for meal service.

Service Locations

Many meal sites are located within local senior centers. Participants are asked to reserve meals by noon the day prior to eating. To arrange home delivery or to make reservations for Senior Dining, please use the numbers below to contact the meal site in your area.

Donate to Meals-on-Wheels and Zoom to a Zero Wait List!

Two donors will match all donations up to $100,000 to feed seniors on the wait list who need meal service.

Every dollar counts!

The need of Meals-on-Wheels always surpasses the available funding creating a waiting list for services. Your donation may provide meals for hospice patients giving them end of life comfort. Your gift may serve someone blind, wheelchair bound, or poverty stricken with no means to buy food. Any donation enables us to help the elderly silently struggling with hunger. THANK YOU!

All contributions are tax-deductible.
Thank you for supporting Mid-Cumberland Meals-on-Wheels.
